Graphics (Week 5)

I personally enjoy cartoonish graphics, such as illustrator graphics. They always remind me of watching cartoons as a child and I think that these vector graphics can be incorporated in almost any setting. From children's website to professional sites as well. Below is an example of a wide range of graphic styles.
This logo is the safari logo used by Mac OS computers.

This snail a good example of what can go on a children's webpage.

And finally this self portrait is good for personal blogs or maybe a biography page.

The use of illustrator graphics can be endless.

Typefaces (Week 4)

All of the following have similar typefaces or typefaces that compliment each other. I labeled the headings in a different color to show what links may look like if you were using links to other pages or external links. Also I attached a so-called “cheat sheet” to give you an idea of which fonts work together. With 1 being greatly compatible and 3 being out of the question as far as mixing the typefaces to work well together.

Also here are some combinations of Typefaces that I put together.

Wireframe

Here is an example of my Homepage wireframe. This simplified example shows where and what each item is and where it belongs. With these basic building blocks one can plug and play and fill with content to make the website intriguing and entertaining. Although it is very basic, this structure is shows organization, everything has its place. This is only to give me or the designer a glimpse of what the page might look like, once the information has been filled the web page will come to life.

Website structure

http://www.andrewgransdenphotography.co.uk/passion.php

Andre Grandsen's Photography website is a great example of how structure can make your website an enjoyable one. This website displays easy to understand links (navigation) and allows the user to move through the web pages effortlessly. One thing that I really enjoy about this style of website is the header, the photographer has added some of his work to each individual page allowing you to see his work without ever visiting his gallery. His navigation bar is also something that I was impressed by. It only includes a few links such as: Home, Passion, News, Contact, and some of his galleries, but under each of the links there are sub links that allow you to see multiple pages that are under that category.
This type of layout and structure allows the user to easily navigate through the pages and fully understanding what it is that you are heading into. The pages also load quickly even though there are a lot of images on some of the pages.

http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html

This website is a flash based website that I found a while back. I'm not really sure what its intended audience is but it's a quirky website for all. On this website all you can do is miss and match the faces of the (what I assume to be) faces of the people who designed the page. Monoface allows you to randomly chose the faces "shuffle face" or you can manually change the adjustable features; Head, left eye, right eye, nose, and mouth.
Also since this is flashed based it is only one page, which can simplify the website for the user.
